Climate activists are trying to break through the greenwashing and communicate what the scientists say is absolutely necessary to be able to cope with the climate crisis. They are met with censorship, persecution and denial instead. There are extreme amounts of fossil energy that must be replaced or removed from society if we are to manage to adapt.

The climate crisis and the nature crisis require extensive societal changes. It is not easy to make the math work out.i In any case, the key thing is that you must act based on research, take precautions and be fair. That is far from the case now. The most central thing is to phase out fossil energy and livestock-based agriculture as quickly and globally fairly as possible. Then it does not help with an ever-increasing material consumption.

The last 9 months have set extreme heat records. It doesn’t look promising. How are we going to manage to get society into the emergency mode we need to solve this problem? This is one of the things that drew me to Haskell - the idea that the language and compiler should be able to enforce strict rules of correctness. It does not support dependent types though and therefore cannot prove most theorems. Dependent types allows for value level computations at compile time and makes it possible to constrain types arbitrarily.

Generative Adversarial Network (GAN) extensions and applications in image processing and generation When human brains process input from the senses they are able to effortlessly imagine new instances and scenarios from only a small amount of input experience. Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) manages to some extent to achieve this imagination ability for datasets. We explore this technique and its applicability in image processing and generation. This has applications in areas like medicine, physics, and artificial intelligence.

Project thesis Currently I’m writing my master thesis on Generative Adversarial Networks. This is a exciting technology that has been pushing the boundaries of AI and of what is conceived possible. I started to write my projet thesis on several techniques and theortical insights involving neural networks. It can be seen here. I will update this with my master thesis later.

Who am I now My interest for mathematical research stems from my curiosity of understanding the systems and structures that make up the world as well as the intellectual satisfaction of understanding the high abstractions of mathematics. However I do believe that the most prosperous discoveries and innovations of mathematics are those that connect deep insights and applicability. This is why I want to have a focus on applications of mathematics; or more specifically I want to further investigate machine learning, artificial intelligence and deep learning and the opportunities it unveils.
